All About Home Inspections
If you're buying a house, you need a Home Inspection. Here's why:

Knowledge:
You WILL learn things about the condition of the house that you
won't find out any other way.  A good home inspection will determine the
condition of every major system of the house - top to bottom, inside and
outside.  A good inspection
report will detail these conditions clearly, in plain,
everyday English.  You will know the house you're buying, before you buy it.

Money: Let's say you're buying a $350,000 house. Let's also say the inspection
costs $3
50.  Do the math; that's only one one-hundred-thousandths of
the cost of the house!
A home inspection is literally the deal of a lifetime!  If
the inspection reveals nothing terribly wrong with the house, you've bought
some pretty inexpensive peace of mind.  If the inspection finds serious problems,
your $3
50 could end up saving you thousands.

How to choose a Home Inspection company

Okay, you may be thinking, "It's West Coast Home Inspections’ website;
everything Arne says about choosing an inspection company will just be sales talk,
telling me to hire
him."  Well, sure... I would be very honoured to work for you,
but I truly believe that the
most important thing is that you get your home
inspection done - by me or another competent inspector.

I could also attempt to sell myself by demeaning my competition as others often
do, but that's not my style... and besides, I know my customers are smart
enough to see through that anyway.  My
work speaks for itself, and it shows.

I will recommend that you would be wise to use a locally owned-and-operated,
full time professional inspection company that's serious about its business and that
cares about yours.  You want someone who has attained an educational
accreditation which is actually bestowed by a nationally recognized professional
body.  You want advice from someone who has built, ripped apart and renovated
houses, not just someone who has studied them in books and pictures.  You
want to talk to the actual person who will inspect your house......not the
inspector's secretary, spouse or scheduler.

Here comes the self-serving part: I strongly recommend a plain-English, easy-
on-the-eyes, custom narrative
report that deals with your house - not some
canned report which does
not include photographs, and that simply lets the
inspector tick off the
pre-written response.  I use this custom narrative report
format as it allows me to convey my findings most accurately to you.
